Two unnamed people have been fined $1,000 each for flying back to Connecticut from Louisana and Florida without filling out required health forms. They also did not quarantine for 14 days, as is the state’s rule for people who travel to states that have 10 percent, or higher, rolling seven-day average of new positive COVID-19 test cases.

Gov. Ned Lamont, who spoke about the fines Monday, Aug. 10, said that the state was alerted to the pandemic scoff-laws by a co-worker and another tipster.

“I hate to do it, but we’re serious about this,” Lamont said during a press conference.

There are 34 states, plus Puerto Rico on Connecticut’s list of hot-spots that, if visited, will trigger COVID-19 precautions in Connecticut upon arrival.
